BUILD: $8 million
COMMISSIONED BY: Orange City Council and Federal Government
BUILDER : ZAUNERS
PLUMBERS : A Murray and Sons
The Orange Regional Museum and Cultural Square was funded jointly by the Federal Government which provided $4 million, Orange City Council matched this with $2 million, the State Government has provided the land, valued at $1 million and another $1 million provided through community fundraising.
The museum aims to respectfully integrate a new building into the existing cultural precinct and to create a new identity while strengthening current civic conditions within the site. The building envelope is shaped to keep line-of-sight to the gallery and create a new civic square & protect it from winter southerlies. Stairs create a public amphitheatre and allow access to the rooftop landscaping. A sloping landscaped roof creates a public hill.
A Murray and Sons were engaged to complete all elements of the hydraulic services including the drainage from underneath the unique rooftop.
